ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM The archaeological museum of Drama covers chronologically the human presence in the prefecture of Drama from the Middle Paleolithic Age (50,000 years from now), with traces of life of Paleolithic hunters in the cave Sources of Aggitis until modern times (1913). RIVER Nestos The Nestos is the natural border between Macedonia and Thrace. The flow of the river, from the Greek-Bulgarian border to the mouth, the Thracian Sea has created a number of different habitats that are home to many species of flora and fauna of the likes of which has not encountered anywhere in Europe, neither in quantity nor in extent. CAVE Aggitis The Cave of the Aggitis River (or Maara) situated 23km. northwest of Drama, Kato Nevrokopi and at the foot of Falakro (Rhodope mountain). The exploration of the cave in 1978 when a group of Greek and French cavers dived with protective suits near sources of Aggitis, where in-depth 7m., Found a passage to the cave where they discovered arcade length 500m.
