Drama experienced rapid expansion in the 20th century. and changes in appearance and architecture was rapid in response to the needs of many residents. Many neighborhoods in the historic center acquired a new color, and created others in the region.

Ski Center
In FALAKRO the "mountain symbol of Drama, is the namesake ski resort in the absence dentrodous vegetation in the region of its base, completely justifies its name, but gives a superb ski charm.

ΔΑΣΟΣ ΕΛΑΤΙΑΣ
Το μεγαλύτερο σε βιοποικιλότητα στην Ελλάδα και το δεύτερο στην Ευρώπη σε χλωρίδα και πανίδα, με 1712 είδη χλωρίδας , 38 είδη θηλαστικών και 102 είδη πουλιών, εκ των οποίων τα 20 σπάνια ή υπό εξαφάνιση. Έχει χαρακτηριστεί διατηρητέο μνημείο της φύσης από την UNESCO και ένα κομμάτι του είναι αυστηρά προστατευόμενο, το λεγόμενο παρθένο δάσος του Φρακτού.
